Happy 100th birthday to the National Park Service

If you can, get in your car and visit a wild place today (or this weekend). If it is one of our 412 national parks that’s awesome. If it is a state park, nature preserve, community garden, or local park that’s awesome too. Just go and experience the beauty of it all and pause to share in the greatness of the work of so many to preserve, protect, and share these amazing places with each other.

Why? Because we all play a part in it. We decide to take care of our wild places and by doing so we also share a greater sense of caring for each other. As President Franklin D. Roosevelt said: “There is nothing so American as our national parks…. The fundamental idea behind the parks…is that the country belongs to the people, that it is in process of making for the enrichment of the lives of all of us.”

Leading up to this great day I have shared a collection of images from my photographic adventures in our national parks on Facebook and Instagram. To celebrate I am sharing the full gallery of images from places like Yosemite National Park, Prince William Forest Park, Arches National Park, and of course Acadia National Park. I hope this inspired your adventure!
